Sheldon Independent School District is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our schools.

About the Job

This is a full-time position that requires a high level of physical activity, including lifting heavy equipment and operating cleaning machinery. You will be responsible for maintaining a cleaning schedule, ensuring all areas of the school are clean and tidy, and complying with local laws and regulations regarding waste disposal.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain a comprehensive cleaning schedule, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Clean floors, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
  • Keep school buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
  • Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and recycling materials.
Maintenance and Repair
  • Assist with lunchroom setup, including arranging tables and chairs.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
  • Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to the principal.
  • Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
  • Assist in setting up facilities for special events.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
