Position Summary:
The Vice President of Business Development at SmartConnect is tasked with spearheading the B2B sales initiatives for the SmartConnect product line. This role encompasses the cultivation of new client accounts and the enhancement of our overall market presence. The VP will be accountable for achieving sales objectives, formulating strategic plans to penetrate enterprise markets, and nurturing existing enterprise account relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for expanding B2B channel sales through partnerships.
  • Align SmartConnect's business goals with corporate strategy by actively engaging in strategic planning, sales strategy formulation, forecasting, and resource allocation in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Identify and engage new national enterprise brokers and partnerships through diverse sales and marketing approaches.
  • Oversee the complete sales cycle for establishing and nurturing relationships with key partners to fulfill SmartConnect's business objectives.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with key accounts while managing retention strategies.
  • Respond to RFPs, review MSAs and other contractual agreements, and collaborate with the account executive, legal, and leadership teams to draft proposals and statements of work.
  • Provide insights into B2B sales activities, including pipeline reporting and conversion metrics.
  • Establish benchmarks to assess program effectiveness and support decision-making; define key performance indicators and maintain SmartConnect's B2B CRM sales dashboard.
  • Implement processes to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and success from SmartConnect partnerships.
  • Foster strategic relationships with existing and new partners to expand the total addressable market.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and model new service offerings within the SmartConnect business.
  • Lead the SmartConnect management team, promoting a culture of accountability, professional growth, high performance, and ethical conduct.
  • Oversee the Account Executive team, setting and managing goals, metrics, and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Account Management team to ensure the successful onboarding of new partners and national accounts.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with cross-functional departments to create an efficient infrastructure for managing the SmartConnect business.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and compliance guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of sales or business development experience in an executive leadership role within a benefits brokerage.
  • Extensive experience managing retail and wholesale broker relationships; strong connections with insurers are essential.
  • Proven track record of leading large sales teams across multiple locations and managing substantial profit and loss responsibilities.
  • Expertise in B2B business development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment while managing multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, along with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in leveraging data to drive results.
  • Capability to influence internal stakeholders and achieve objectives through collaboration.
