Job Summary

The Chief Lending Officer is responsible for overseeing the bank's loan portfolio, focusing on real estate collateralized lending. This role requires leadership in developing lending strategies, managing lending operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high credit quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the bank's lending strategy in alignment with overall profit and credit quality goals.
  • Identify growth opportunities within commercial and residential real estate markets to expand the bank's loan portfolio.
  • Collaborate with executive management to set long-term goals and objectives for the lending department.
  • Oversee all aspects of the real estate lending division, including sales, operations, underwriting, credit analysis, and loan servicing.
  • Ensure the implementation of sound lending policies and procedures, working closely with credit risk management.
  • Analyze market trends and economic conditions to guide strategic decisions on lending policies and new loan products.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a high-performance team of lending managers, lending officers, operations, and credit professionals.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the lending and operations department.
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments to ensure seamless operations and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies in all lending activities.
  • Monitor the performance of the loan portfolio, including delinquency, default rates, and risk exposure, taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Work with enterprise risk management, legal, and compliance teams to mitigate risks and manage disputes related to real estate loans.
  • Develop and lead the development of mortgage and real estate lending products to meet market demand.
  • Stay informed on real estate industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Use data to assess profitability, risk exposure, and opportunities for optimization within the lending portfolio.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, real estate developers, investors, and other stakeholders to drive business growth.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for large real estate deals, ensuring client satisfaction and alignment with bank's lending policies.
  • Report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, providing clear and concise updates on the performance of the lending and operations department.
  • Present strategic insights and key performance metrics to the board of directors and executive leadership.
  • Play an active role in cross-functional executive meetings to shape the future direction of the bank.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Real Estate, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in real estate lending, with deep knowledge in mortgage lending, loans servicing, commercial real estate, and construction development.
  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in leading and managing large teams within the financial services and real estate industry.
  • Proven track record of managing loan portfolios and achieving growth objectives.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to real estate lending.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, loan structuring, and credit evaluation.
