Job Summary

The Paint Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding the technical aspects of the painting process for structural sign surfaces at Stratus, a leading brand implementation company.

This role involves leading the preparation and finishing tasks, ensuring high-quality results, and maintaining best practices in the paint department.

The Paint Operations Manager will work closely with the team to ensure all projects meet the required standards, while also providing technical expertise and support.

This is a hands-on role with no direct reports, focused on ensuring excellence in every stage of the painting process.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical execution of cleaning, masking, priming, and painting structural sign surfaces, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Provide guidance on the use of HVLP spray guns and other painting tools, ensuring optimal performance and results.
  • Oversee the movement of signs in and out of paint booths, utilizing hoists and dollies when necessary to prevent damage and ensure safety.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to the painting process.
  • Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of work machines, tools, and paint booths, addressing any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Lead and mentor a crew of 15 painters and support staff, ensuring effective collaboration and communication within the team.
  • Implement and uphold best practices for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in painting signs, vehicles, or other detail-oriented, decorative metalwork.
  • Proficiency with HVLP spray guns and experience in using filtration masks.
  • Strong technical expertise in painting processes within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy signs as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
