Job Overview: The Lead Survey Technician is tasked with overseeing the operations of a survey team across diverse project sites. This role is crucial in providing expert technical guidance and support to project management, particularly for large-scale civil engineering initiatives.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Employ surveying instruments and supervise team members to accurately identify, assess, and document job sites.
  2. Conduct operations that involve pinpointing landmarks, physical features, and notable alterations in terrain that may impact the survey requirements.
  3. Oversee survey activities, prioritize tasks, and coordinate the efforts of the team.
  4. Evaluate the quality of work performed and execute necessary field calculations based on completed tasks.
  5. Provide training on the use of surveying tools and equipment.
  6. Ensure precision in measurements, distances, and data, adhering to established regulations and standards.
  7. Maintain detailed and organized records of work conducted.
  8. Collaborate with technical staff to ensure that final outputs accurately reflect comprehensive survey data.
  9. Handle administrative duties such as completing time records, generating vehicle mileage reports, managing expense accounts, and documenting expenditures.
  10. Keep a well-organized workspace while managing multiple projects concurrently.
  11. Draft reports, business correspondence, and project documentation.
  12. Effectively communicate information in both individual and small group settings to clients, customers, and team members.
  13. Interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Lead Survey Technician in heavy civil and bridge construction projects.
  2. Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  3. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts, including calculations involving rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpreting bar graphs.
  4. Possess a valid driver's license for occasional travel.
  5. Skilled in problem-solving, data collection, and drawing logical conclusions.
  6. Adept at interpreting a wide range of technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
  7. Moderate physical activity is required, including some outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions.
  8. Ability to navigate minor obstacles at construction sites.
  9. Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment effectively.
