Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing services team at St Marys Correctional Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for structuring, planning, and implementing a comprehensive nursing services program that delivers high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for health care activities that comply with contractual requirements, Department of Corrections, and national standards.
  • Direct planning, priority setting, and development of policies and procedures for the Division of Nursing Services.
  • Coordinate and monitor orientation, in-services, and continuing education within the Division of Nursing Services.
  • Conduct recruitment and retention efforts for the Division of Nursing Services.
  • Participate in the development and administration of a budget for Nursing Services.
  • Chair the Infection Control Committee and develop and implement procedures, audits, and nursing in-services.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Health Care Unit Administrator.
  • Conduct regular meetings with nursing staff and act as administrator on call for nursing emergencies or nursing staff needs.
  • Coordinate and provide clinical orientation and nursing in-service training.
  • Member of the Utilization Review Committee and Quality Assurance Committee.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules for the Division of Nursing Service in accordance with contract terms of nursing coverage.
Requirements
  • Current State Registered Nursing License.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Graduate of nursing school required; BSN preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership nursing role preferred; 2 years of administrative and/or correctional nursing experience can be substituted for BSN.
