Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our team at Para Los Niños Charter Middle School. As a Middle School Mathematics Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching mathematics to students in grades 6-8, developing and implementing a high-level, challenging curriculum, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure student success.

Responsibilities
  • Teach mathematics to students in grades 6-8, using culturally relevant curriculum and instructional approaches that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Develop and refine a high-level, challenging curriculum in mathematics, aligned with state and charter-mandated standards.
  • Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students, using data to inform instruction and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver instruction that addresses the academic, social, and emotional learning needs of students.
  • Implement curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with Para Los Niños' mission statement, including an educational program that addresses the academic, social, and emotional learning and, ultimately, the wellness of our students.
  • Assess student performance frequently and objectively, using data to inform instruction and drive continuous improvement.
  • Promote ethical behavior and responsible conduct among students and staff, and develop a cooperative partnership with families and students based on mutual respect and objectivity.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including staff meetings, school governance, and community events, to stay current on best practices in education and to contribute to the growth and development of the school community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Current Single Subject teaching credential with appropriate subject matter authorization in mathematics issued by the California State Department of Education Commission on Teachers Credentialing.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, families, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school system staff in a non-traditional, inner-city environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement.
