Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team at the Louisiana SPCA. As a key member of our community support team, you will provide exceptional customer service, care for animals in our shelter, and assist with adoptions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to the public
  • Care for animals in our shelter, including feeding, cleaning, and providing enrichment activities
  • Assist with animal adoptions, including matching pets with suitable owners and ensuring successful placements
  • Educate clients on responsible pet ownership, humane law, and the services offered by the Louisiana SPCA
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve shared goals and objectives
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, push/pull heavy objects, bend, twist, reach, and perform strenuous physical activities
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment substance screening
  • Possession of a valid State of Louisiana driver's license
Working Conditions
  • Full-time and part-time shifts available
  • Works in an area with a high noise level
  • Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches
Compensation

$15.00-$17.50 per hour based on experience
