Overview

A Nutritional Services Associate plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the Nutritional Services Department. This position encompasses various areas including Patient Services, Retail Cafeteria, and Food Production. Associates may receive training to work in multiple environments within the department based on operational requirements. Below are the specific roles that may be assigned, each with its own essential duties and responsibilities.

Shift: Full-time, 30+ hours

Pay: $17.01 Hourly Rate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of ABM Healthcare Support Services.
  • Ensure proper operation, storage, and sanitation of kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain accurate portion control in food preparation to minimize waste and ensure quality.
  • Prepare and serve meals to patients of all ages following standardized recipes.
  • Provide catering services for meals, meetings, or special events as required.
  • Notify supervisors of any equipment or supply issues, including spoiled food or defective items.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding food orders during meal times.
  • Order necessary food and supplies on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate work schedules to ensure timely food preparation and service.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
  • Assist in the maintenance and care of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and washing surfaces as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through training and educational opportunities.
  • Attend departmental meetings and in-service training as required.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills consistently.
  • Comply with all relevant federal and state regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Be open to cross-training in other areas within the department as needed.
  • Follow HACCP guidelines for food safety and handling.
  • Adhere to the established uniform policy of the department.
  • Complete required logs for food temperature and safety.
  • Assist in training new staff members as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • No prior experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • No educational qualifications such as a high school diploma or GED are necessary.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Participate in scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Complete annual age-specific competencies and mandatory hospital education.
  • Meet TB, immunization, and employee health requirements.
  • Engage in department-specific education and skill development.
