Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in a related field or three (3) years of experience in a customer service or office environment may substitute for the degree.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a medical terminology course within one (1) year of starting the position is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in a public-facing role, along with basic computer proficiency and familiarity with office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent communication abilities; adherence to confidentiality standards; capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; strong memory for details; ability to prioritize and complete tasks under pressure; adaptability to change and decision-making in ambiguous situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and engages in various tasks related to the daily clinic operations, including patient identification, check-in/out processes, financial transactions, appointment scheduling, and patient registration.
- Proficient in managing phone communications, delivering messages to healthcare providers, and accurately relaying medical information from patients and referring physicians.
- Exemplifies professionalism and serves as a role model within the workplace.
- Handles incoming patient care requests, including in-basket activities, referrals, and telephone inquiries.
- Possesses a strong understanding of insurance coverage policies and eligibility requirements.
- Completes mandatory insurance training and participates in ongoing competency refreshers.
- Capable of initiating and securing prior authorizations as necessary.
