Job Summary

Piedmont HealthCare PA is seeking a skilled Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our physicians and staff to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  1. Assess patient health status, including state of wellness and compliance with care plans, and determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  2. Provide acute and chronic patient care, including taking histories, performing physicals, monitoring therapies, administering injections and medications, and suturing wounds.
  3. Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems, responding to emergencies and using CPR as needed.
  4. Document patient information and care provided in patient records and maintain department statistics, utilizing computer systems to access and enter necessary data.
  5. Educate patients and families as appropriate, providing continuity of care and consulting with other staff members as necessary.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, with a graduate degree from an accredited physician assistant program.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a physician assistant, preferably in a clinic setting.
  • Five years of experience in a medical office and surgery setting.
  • A valid PA license for the state of North Carolina and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • CPR certification as required.
Knowledge and Skills

You will need to possess:

  • Knowledge of acute and chronic care protocols, medication administration, and physical care following treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of patient health assessment and measurement of physiologic and growth indices.
  • Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques and patient learning measurements.
  • Skill in gathering and analyzing patient data, evaluating patient problems, and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
  • Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.
  • Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
  • Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
Work Environment

This role will be based in a medical office and exam room setting, with frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a clinic. You will have frequent contact with a variety of people and will need to be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Physical and Mental Demands

This role requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting, as well as the ability to help transfer patients. You will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage stress effectively.
