Job Title: Principal Engineer - Structural Design/Analysis

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead our structural design/analysis team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in earthquake engineering and structural dynamics, with expertise in designing and analyzing complex structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project teams in designing and analyzing structural systems, including bridges, buildings, and other transportation infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement design concepts, technical approaches, and best practices to ensure project success.
  • Oversee project execution, providing in-house review of analysis models and verifying results against basic structural theory and code compliance.
  • Maintain project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and author technical reports and present at client/peer review meetings.
  • Assist in project proposals, developing technical approaches, scopes of work, and budget/schedule estimates.
  • Mentor and train junior staff, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
Requirements:
  • M.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer licensure, CA preferred.
  • 15+ years of industry experience, with a strong background in earthquake engineering and structural dynamics.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong structural and seismic design/analysis technical skills for a wide range of structure types.
  • Extensive knowledge of transportation and building codes.
  • Proficiency in advanced structural analysis software (e.g. ADINA, CSiBridge, MIDAS, LS-DYNA, and similar).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Senior or Principal level experience and design/analysis expertise in a wide range of multi-disciplinary structure types, including new or retrofit bridges, buildings, tunnels, tanks, and underground structures.
  • Extensive experience using state-of-practice techniques and advanced linear and non-linear finite element analysis.
  • Well-versed in transportation criteria and building codes, including AASHTO LRFD, Caltrans Seismic Design Criteria, as well as High Speed Rail Criteria, the California Building Code, ASCE7, ACI318, and/or AISC360/341.
  • Strong planning/organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated and welcome to new challenges.
