About the Job

The National Park Service is seeking a highly skilled Motor Vehicle Operator to join their team at Acadia National Park. As a Motor Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for operating motor vehicles on public roads and in park settings, including narrow, winding roads in campgrounds and through heavy visitor traffic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of motor vehicles, including gasoline or diesel powered vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 lbs. or more
  • Load and unload vehicles, ensuring cargo is properly secured before transporting
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles, including oil, tire pressure, and brakes
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment, and lead work of lower-graded employees when necessary
Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must possess a valid CDL and have a proven track record of safe and reliable motor vehicle operation. You should also be able to interpret instructions and specifications related to mobile equipment operation, as well as perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Work Environment

As a Motor Vehicle Operator with the National Park Service, you will work in a dynamic environment with varying weather conditions and heavy visitor traffic. You may be required to work overtime, wear a uniform, and comply with National Park Service uniform standards.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $50,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
