Vehicle Operator Technician

The National Park Service is seeking a skilled Motor Vehicle Operator to join their team at Acadia National Park. As a Motor Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for operating gasoline or diesel powered vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 lbs. or more. This includes driving pickups, stake and dump trucks, and loading and unloading vehicles while ensuring cargo is securely fastened.
Key Responsibilities- Operate motor vehicles on public roads and in park settings, including narrow, winding roads in campgrounds and through heavy visitor traffic
- Load and unload vehicles, securing cargo before transporting
- Perform light maintenance on vehicles, including monitoring fluid levels and checking tire pressures
- Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment, and lead work of lower-graded employees when necessary
To qualify for this position, you must have a current Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and possess sufficient knowledge and ability to operate motor vehicles safely. You should also be able to interpret instructions and specifications related to mobile equipment operation, as well as perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Work EnvironmentAs a Motor Vehicle Operator with the National Park Service, you will work in a dynamic environment with varying weather conditions and heavy visitor traffic. You may be required to work overtime, wear a uniform, and comply with National Park Service uniform standards.
BenefitsThis position offers a competitive salary range of $42,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
