Position Overview:

The Chief Program Officer (CPO) plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s philosophy and objectives related to child development by spearheading a comprehensive program across all locations associated with Mary Crane Center. **

Leadership and Management

  • Assist the CEO and COO in overseeing the leadership and operational aspects of the organization, including talent development and financial planning.
  • Supervise educational staff, site personnel, and quality assurance teams.
  • Collaboratively design and facilitate the strategic planning process with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership across the organization, ensuring early childhood programs meet federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Manage the distribution of information, policies, regulations, and reports.
  • Work with the COO and HR to identify and recruit highly qualified staff dedicated to excellence in early childhood education.
  • Encourage cross-departmental collaboration to ensure program consistency and stakeholder involvement.
  • Act as a liaison to community partners.
  • In collaboration with the CEO, engage with philanthropic and research partners to support joint projects and initiatives.

Program Oversight and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and assess direct reports, including site directors and instructional staff, providing regular feedback on individual and team performance.
  • Exemplify a growth mindset, effective teamwork, data-driven decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ensure clear communication of expectations to department leaders and maintain accountability for achieving established goals.
  • Facilitate regular check-ins between leadership and directors.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance team, monitor operational performance, and address issues related to early childhood education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster a cohesive learning environment that supports diverse learners and implements strategies to enhance student success.
  • Build strong relationships with various stakeholder groups, including external partners, to effectively address site and director needs.
  • Promote a culture of learning that emphasizes quality experiences for children, collaborative relationships, continuous improvement, and high performance through curriculum development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Educational Background

  • Master's degree in early childhood development or education.
  • 10+ years of experience in the education sector.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
