Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Services Specialist to join our team at Commonwealth Catholic Charities. In this role, you will be responsible for the recruitment, assessment, and training of prospective adoptive families, as well as providing pregnancy counseling and case management services to birth parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain full program compliance with regulatory and licensing bodies
  • Provide counseling services to birth parents and potential adoptive parents
  • Participate in an on-call system for emergency and routine service delivery
  • Interview potential adoptive couples, foster families, and birth parents to explain adoption procedures
  • Conduct home studies to assess motivations, expectations, and ability to be adoptive parents and foster parents
  • Coordinate contacts with other adoption services to arrange adoptions
  • Guide adopting couples through the legal and administrative process of adopting a child
  • Supervise and evaluate the placement of children in foster homes and adoptive families
  • Complete court reports for finalization
  • Review adoption records to provide non-identifying information to adoptees
  • Participate in the overall promotion of the program by participating in budget preparation, preparing statistical data, promoting community and interagency involvement, and representing the program in state and national child care advocacy situations
Requirements
  • Doctorate or master's degree in social work or a related field with a student placement in casework services to children and families, or one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families
  • Baccalaureate degree in social work or a related field with one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families, or baccalaureate degree in any field with two years of experience in providing casework services to children and families
