Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Fertility Assistant to join our team at the Fertility Center. As a key member of our ambulatory care team, you will play a critical role in supporting the overall efficiency of patient flow and ensuring that patients receive exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Greet patients in a professional manner and escort them to patient exam rooms, maintaining patient privacy, comfort, and confidentiality.
  2. Take and document patient vital signs, collect specimens, and perform point-of-care testing as ordered.
  3. Assist with procedures, including pelvic exams, vaginal ultrasounds, office hysteroscopies, and other procedures under the supervision of a physician.
  4. Prepare procedural medications under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner.
  5. Keep detailed records of clinical information provided by physicians during exams and procedures.
  6. Complete patient intakes and enroll patients in EngagedMD.
  7. Maintain detailed equipment assessments pre- and post-procedures.
  8. Clean and disinfect procedural equipment, including the use of the Trophon machine, following MGH infection control guidelines.
  9. Assist RNs and MDs with intrauterine inseminations, precise identification of sperm specimens, and phlebotomy.
  10. Track patient testing and consults for completion and identify and report abnormal testing results to the team RN in a timely manner.
  11. Meet with new patients in collaboration with physicians, provide patient education, and complete lab requisitions.
  12. Prep for physician sessions, including reviewing completed testing and consults ordered.
  13. Evaluate daily schedules to identify changes in patient appointments and early recognition of the need to reschedule patients.
  14. Anticipate plans of care for follow-up physician visits, prepares additional lab requisition slips, and pulls educational treatment packets.
  15. Organize and maintain patient educational packets.
  16. Scan procedural consents, outside medical records, and other documents into the EMR.
  17. Assist RNs with prior authorization requests for medications.
  18. Assist physicians and fellows during oocyte retrievals and embryo transfers using sterile technique in the O.R. procedural area.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Certification Program preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 1 year of prior clinical experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
