Research Fellow Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Fellow to join our team at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The successful candidate will work closely with our research group, led by Dr. Alissa Rothchild, to support our ongoing projects in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Job SummaryThe Research Fellow will be responsible for managing the lab's mouse colony, conducting research experiments in BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facilities, and analyzing data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal science, biology, or a related field, and excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the lab's mouse colony, including genotyping and colony maintenance.
- Conduct research experiments in BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facilities with pathogenic bacteria.
- Analyze data and prepare media and reagents for experiments.
- Order and organize supplies and reagents.
- Work collaboratively with other lab members to promote teamwork and inclusivity.
- B.A. or B.S. in Animal Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to work as part of a research team with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work with mouse models.
- Willingness to perform Biosafety Level-3 work.
- 12-18 months of laboratory experience or a related Master's degree.
- Experience in animal model techniques, including handling, injecting, and genotyping mice.
- Experience in basic molecular and cell biology techniques, including sterile technique and reagent preparation.
- Experience in immunology techniques, including multicolor flow cytometry and immunofluorescent microscopy.
We offer a competitive salary range of $36-$50k, with benefits, commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
