Job Summary

This Applications Developer III position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Office of Information Technology Services. The successful candidate will provide information technology support for the Records and Workflow Management (RWM) systems and support applications that are primarily focused on electronic forms, automated workflows, document management systems, forms warehouse and imaging support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain application software, including defining or documenting requirements and specifications, designing or implementing data structures and data manipulation processes, acquiring or customizing program code for business applications, and developing, debugging, or documenting program code for business applications.
  • Develop or monitor the execution of plans for system implementation, acceptance testing, or system conversion, installs and configures system and application software, converts or transfers data from existing locations and formats, and designs, performs, or documents system, regression, and acceptance tests and post-implementation reviews for new or modified hardware, software, and user procedures.
  • Receive and document user requests for information, requests for assistance, or suggestions for system improvements, assist users in resolving problems, advise business personnel on current or potential information system capabilities, track user queries, responses and problem resolutions, and take steps to isolate, identify, and correct system problems.
  • Specify policies, standards, or procedures for safeguarding data integrity, develop or maintain data structures or databases, establish or periodically test the effectiveness of procedures and data cross-references, establish or perform procedures for distributing stored or processed data, and conduct procedures for data sampling and confirmation with system users.
  • Acquire or develop, and maintain training material for application training, maintain software on training equipment, and coordinate or conduct training of system users and organization management.
  • Identify or monitor the performance and condition of critical components of the IT infrastructure.
  • Establish user privileges to access services and data.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of 24 hours in computer science coursework or certification AND three years of experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs OR four years of experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming in VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET JavaScript, FlowWright, and Github.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of database management, direct access techniques, and remote processing.
  • Knowledge of one or more computer programming languages.
  • Knowledge of computer systems analysis, design, user and system documentation, user and system testing, debugging, and maintenance techniques and practices.
  • Exposure to Visual Studio.
