Experienced Culinary Director for Elite NYC Household

We are seeking an exceptional Private Chef to join our team at Melville Management Corp. As a key member of our household staff, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our UHNW couple in NYC and travel with them to prepare daily meals for a range of guests and occasions.

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity for a talented chef who specializes in Asian cuisine but also has a broad repertoire of other culinary styles. You will be responsible for creating an amazing culinary experience for our Principals and their guests, as well as managing event planning, staffing & management, kitchen design, layout, and functionality.

You will work closely with our administrative staff and outside event coordinators to conceptualize and coordinate event needs, including service staffing levels for large events and facilitating service staff hiring. Your role will also involve coordinating and managing event staff for event layout, timing, flow, and culinary aspects of food service.

Culinary Responsibilities
  • Plan, shop, prepare, and cook meals and snacks according to the Principals' dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Ensure breakfast and lunch options and requirements are met for homes when family or guests are in residence.
  • Stock all fresh produce and beverages deemed essential by the family.
  • Maintain awareness of any dietary restrictions for all family members and guests.
  • Secure special food supplies requested by family and/or guests.
  • Maintain properly stocked pantry preferences at multiple residences based on family travel dates.
  • Assist the Principals and their family members with any culinary questions that may arise.
  • Prepare food items for donations or outside events and package them in a travel-friendly manner.
  • Secure ingredients for staff lounge upon request.
Service Responsibilities
  • Perform service if fewer than 6 total guests are present.
  • Coordinate staff for meals of 6+ guests (dish or service).
  • Coordinate and set tables with proper table settings according to Principal's preferences.
  • Receive and greet guests upon arrival as necessary.
  • E nsure proper ambiance (table lighting, temperature, music, candles, etc.).
  • Return kitchen and dining area to original condition after service.
Management Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage event staff.
  • Document event staff hours according to service agreements and submit invoices to Finance Manager for payment.
  • Manage kitchen cleaning supplies with collaboration from housekeepers.
  • Manage events disposables and plastic storage inventory.
  • Manage beverage inventory.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
