Senior Loan Processor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Loan Processor is responsible for obtaining and preparing loan documents, credit documents, appraisals, and other necessary materials to complete loan files. This role requires maintaining and updating records and files for processing, verifying accuracy and completeness, and performing data entry. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of complex mortgage loan processing and associated documentation and underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry a pipeline of 25-45 loans and review new files within 24-48 hours.
  • Close every loan on time and order all verifications, appraisals, title work, and FHA case numbers.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of company policy and secondary market requirements pertaining to credit/security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in policies, standards, and regulations applicable to the work unit.
  • Understand and apply local, state, and federal regulations relating to processing mortgage loans.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely, objective, and confidential manner.
  • Act as a trouble-shooter for problem loans, interacting between Loan Originators, clients, and lenders.
  • Log new loans, review 1003 for accuracy, and prepare stipulation files/requirements.
  • Follow up to ensure Statement of Credit Denial letters are issued and prepare and distribute aging reports to Originators.
  • Pre-underwrite all loans to ensure proper supporting documentation and coordinate and distribute lender and underwriting changes.
  • Request routine additional documentation from loan customers, collect, submit, and clear all underwriting and funding conditions.
  • Coordinate closing date and location between Loan Originators, lenders, and closing agents and review HUD prior to closing.
  • Ensure proper timelines and follow-up procedures are adhered to with loans in the Prospect list and Pipeline list.

Requirements:

  • Identify and follow through on solutions for problems or potential problems with staff, cleanliness of the office, orders, flow of customers and visitors, and problems with computers and software.
  • Verify confidentiality is secure by keeping drawers and sensitive information in locked drawers/cabinets.
  • Effectively communicate, work with, and build relationships with all levels of constituents, including culturally and linguistically diverse staff members and external candidates and/or vendors.
  • This position may require occasional overtime and travel.
