Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrument Technician Lead to join our Sterile Processing team at Cook Children's Medical Center. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for assisting the coordinator/supervisor in the daily flow of work, maintaining adequate reserve inventory, and serving as a liaison for surgery to expedite high-priority procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and prevent cross-contamination by adhering to dress codes, environmental policies, and traffic control.
  • Provide mentoring to staff members as needed and participate in Sterile Processing leadership and planning.
  • Assist in the assembly of instrument sets and equipment, and ensure proper sterilization procedures are followed.
  • Serve as a liaison for surgery to expedite high-priority procedures and instruments.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an instrument technician recommended.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, proper sterilization procedures, decontamination, and assembly procedures per IAHCSMM, AAMI, AORN, AST, OSHA, JCAHO, and The Joint Commission.
  • Certification in a national organization for sterile processing required.
