Emergency Room Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As an ER Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our emergency department team.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Accept patients into the cubicle, remove clothing, bags, and labels, and provide a pillow.
- Perform non-sterile treatments, such as cold compresses, post-mortem care, Foley catheter care, Ace bandages, applying casts and orthopedic splints, including Hare traction, non-sterile dressings, and sitz baths.
- Assist patients with turning, coughing, and deep breathing.
- Perform specimen collection and procedures, including phlebotomy, using computer systems to document and print labels, verifying patient identification, and using correct techniques and procedures.
- Use effective interpersonal relations skills in all interactions, demonstrating respect for others.
- Maintain active involvement in all educational activities related to the role, attending mandatory inservices and equipment validations, and other educational offerings as assigned.
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by the Manager, including assisting in orienting new Clinical Technicians.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and completed ER Tech training or other equivalent.
- Either one year of patient care experience or experience in an emergency room or other related setting, or Student Nurse who has completed one semester of clinical experience.
- English speaking, reading, and writing ability, competent to provide care to patients of all ages, CPR certification preferred or must attain it before completion of orientation and maintain the certification, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
