Patient Care Technician Regional Float Pool PRN

A Patient Care Technician has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs in our Regional Float Pool PRN. This is a day shift position, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., PRN on-call as needed to meet the needs of the Float Pool. This position requires a Colorado CNA license.

Responsibilities:- Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patients with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating constructively, effectively, and timely with members of the care team.
- Perform 12-lead EKG duties commensurate with the level of training received and competency.
- Apply, check, and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.
- Perform wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
- Perform equipment and tube care/management, e.g., JP's, hemovacs, and nasogastric tubes, and Foley removal.
- Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges as directed and in compliance with the principles of safe patient handling.
- Order and maintain office and patient care floor stock/supplies.
- Perform the duties of unit secretary, maintaining patient charts, responding to phone calls, maintaining daily assignment boards, providing equipment care/cleaning, performing errands associated with patient care, and providing accurate information about the patient to an interdisciplinary team.
- Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire (with prior approval).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of experience as a CNA.
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
