Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Assistant

Richland One is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our young students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in planning and implementing instructional activities, ensuring a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment.
- Support students with exercises and materials preparation, reinforcing knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
- Administer and grade tests, record grades, and substitute as needed, while maintaining a positive and supportive attitude.
- Escort children to other areas of the school, monitor student behavior, and provide basic health needs assistance.
- Participate in staff development programs, staying up-to-date with the latest educational techniques and best practices.
- Interact and communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and other school personnel, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- A minimum of 60 college hours from an accredited college or university, or a passing score of 456 or above on the Praxis ParaPro Assessment.
- Two years of consistent training and experience working with children in an education-oriented institution, providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Specialized training in conflict resolution and behavior modification may be required.
The Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Assistant must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including kitchen appliances and utensils. The position requires the ability to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The worker must be able to remain on their feet for extended periods, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and lift weights of up to fifty pounds.
Working ConditionsThe Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Assistant will work in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, teachers, and other school personnel. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a team setting, maintain a clean and orderly workspace, and adhere to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the District and regulatory agencies.
