We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural transitional housing and reentry initiative, The Fulton Community Reentry Center. This facility will offer 140 beds of transitional housing for formerly incarcerated men facing homelessness upon release from correctional facilities. In addition to housing, Fulton will provide essential onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment assistance, health services, and substance use disorder treatment. The center operates year-round, 24/7, with some roles requiring flexible hours.

We are currently seeking three full-time Housing Specialists. In this role, you will collaborate with Case Managers and clients to facilitate the transition to permanent housing. This position reports directly to the Housing Coordinator.

Compensation: $27.47-$28.85 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with landlords and property management companies.
  • Act as a liaison with the DHS Housing Placement Unit.
  • Ensure compliance with housing laws, building codes, and lease agreements by landlords and management companies.
  • Work closely with Case Management to identify clients who are ready for housing.
  • Address and resolve conflicts or crises involving landlords and management.
  • Maintain fair housing standards in securing apartments.
  • Develop and update a database of available housing options.
  • Identify new housing opportunities through ongoing networking.
  • Prepare and coordinate reports related to housing codes and compliance.
  • Communicate unit readiness and any issues regarding client housing to Case Management staff.
  • Assist in preparing housing packages and collaborate with Case Management on necessary documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is required.
Experience
  • Relevant work experience in NYC Housing programs, housing resources, and negotiating lease agreements.
  • Knowledge of state and city housing and disability laws is essential.
  • Experience with databases such as HOME and CARES is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated writing proficiency.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Calm demeanor in crisis situations and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
