Job Title: Life Safety Inspector

Berkshire Systems Group, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Life Safety Inspector to join our team. As a Life Safety Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our clients' facilities.

Job Summary:

The Life Safety Inspector will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections of fire alarm systems, identifying potential safety hazards, and providing recommendations for improvement. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site inspections of fire alarm systems to identify potential safety hazards and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to locate system devices and identify potential safety hazards
  • Use manufacturers' manuals to operate various panels and extract fire alarm event data
  • Conduct inspections and tests for fire alarms, security systems, and communication systems
  • Utilize inspection software to accurately document findings and provide recommendations for improvement
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to effectively use a smartphone for communication, documentation, GPS navigation, and scheduling
  • Strong customer service skills for on-site client interactions
  • Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operational manuals
  • Basic understanding of circuitry and experience using a multimeter
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities
  • Detail-oriented approach to documentation and task completion
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing tools, equipment, and records
Physical Requirements:
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to climb ladders and stairs, access elevated areas, and inspect system components installed at various heights
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds daily; heavier lifting with mechanical assistance or teamwork
  • Mobility: Comfort moving safely within confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and other installation areas
  • Vision: Visual acuity in at least one eye of 20/40 or better (uncorrected) or 20/70 with corrective lenses; ability to distinguish colors
