Position Summary: The City and County of San Francisco is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to join our Technology Division. This pivotal role involves overseeing various projects, performing in-depth analyses, and deploying innovative law enforcement technologies. Key responsibilities include managing the development of infrastructure across multiple facilities to support advanced technologies, such as drones and automatic license plate readers (ALPR), along with their associated software platforms.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and project awareness to ensure successful technology implementation.
  • Oversee procurement and implementation processes within the relevant department.
  • Organize and lead departmental and inter-departmental meetings, including agenda preparation and documentation of meeting outcomes.
  • Design and execute new systems aligned with project objectives and scope.
  • Manage the modernization of the Records Management System (RMS) to comply with federal and state crime statistics requirements.
  • Contribute to and secure approval for departmental notices, memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and contracts related to new technology deployments.
  • Support organizational process reviews and change management initiatives.
  • Utilize recognized project management methodologies for both waterfall and agile projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports for management review.
  • Document and monitor project risks and issues, ensuring effective tracking of tasks.
  • Develop test plans, documentation, and training materials.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization professionally at strategic meetings and events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: An associate degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent coursework.

Experience: A minimum of five years of full-time experience in information systems, including system analysis, business process design, and IT project management.

Note: Additional relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Verification: Candidates may be required to provide verification of education and experience during the recruitment process.
