Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Child Development Master Teacher to join our team at College of the Canyons. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and care to infants and toddlers in a state-funded program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for infants and toddlers
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Apply State Child Development Division Regulations, Title 22 and Title V, to ensure compliance with state standards
  • Knowledge of NAEYC Accreditation Standards and California Department of Education (CDE) Early Education and Support Division (EESD) Desired Results for Children and Families
  • Experience with Environment Rating Scale (ERS) and Early Childhood (ECERS) and Infant/Toddler (ITERS)
  • Application of Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Intentional Teaching
  • Knowledge and application of Early Childhood Theory
  • Specialized coursework in special needs
  • Training and/or knowledge of the Outdoor Classroom Project
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must possess a current State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Master Teacher Permit or higher
  • Must have 2 years of work experience with infants and toddlers in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program, working at least three hours per day
  • Must have completed 3 units of Infant/Toddler Curriculum and Development course
  • Completion of specialized courses in Special Needs course and Working with Families of Diverse Background course
  • Must have a current Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certifications
Working Conditions

The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $26.01 per hour (depending on qualifications). The College of the Canyons offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plans.
