Job Overview
The primary responsibility of the Safety and Security Specialist is to uphold the safety and protection of our facilities, assets, employees, and guests. This role involves monitoring the premises, assessing suspicious activities, and enforcing organizational policies. The Specialist is expected to deter criminal activities by maintaining a high level of visibility and vigilance. Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service are essential.
The Safety and Security Specialist must effectively evaluate situations, remain composed, maintain control, and conduct themselves with professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the safety of the business and its occupants, including employees, customers, and vendors, by patrolling the property and maintaining visibility.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging positively with customers, team members, and vendors.
- Stay alert and vigilant to identify potential security threats, such as altercations or disturbances, and take appropriate action to prevent loss or damage.
- Document activities and incidents as necessary, including observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
- Coordinate with local authorities when required, maintaining professional relationships with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.
- Support the Asset Protection team in efforts to prevent theft and minimize losses.
- Comply with and enforce all company policies, procedures, and operational standards while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Respond to emergencies and provide necessary assistance to team members and customers, following established procedures for various initiatives.
- Utilize company-provided communication devices to stay connected with other security personnel and the Asset Protection team.
- Conduct inspections of perimeter doors to ensure security measures are in place and functioning properly.
- Report any safety concerns or issues promptly.
- Ability to foster a positive and secure environment within the workplace.
- Adaptability to rapid changes, multitasking capabilities, and effective performance under pressure.
- Familiarity with security training protocols and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse individuals and groups.
- Positive demeanor and a collaborative team player.
- Excellent observational skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in security or related fields is preferred.
- Experience in customer service roles.
- Basic proficiency in Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- May involve light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally.
- Requires prolonged periods of standing.
- This position may require travel between various locations based on business needs.
- Typical physical activities include standing or walking for extended periods, with occasional climbing, bending, and reaching.
- This is a non-exempt position; the schedule will be determined based on business requirements.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is essential.
