About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Project Engineer to join our team at PCL Construction. As a key member of our solar team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating solar project activities, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain contracts with select trade partners and oversee subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and supervising progress.
  • Participate in change management and change order process, including pricing, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Maintain and perform project document control and procedures, including coordinating RFIs, shop drawings, and submittal processes.
  • Collaborate with the project team lead in supervising design and responding to submittal schedules.
  • Participate in reviews of trade partners' submittals for compliance with scope and design documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers and superintendents to manage and report overall project performance, including site HSE, cost management, schedule, and quality.
  • Prepare and supervise progress claims and estimates.
  • Coordinate inventory and tracking of materials and equipment and expedite material orders.
  • Assist with site inspections to resolve constructability and site coordination issues and review and sign off on functionality, AHJ requirements, and code compliance.
  • Involved in and participate with overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance, and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in a related subject area, such as construction management, engineering, or architecture, preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Verified understanding of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety, and environment (HSE), quality, building materials, and required standards.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize own work, and delegate simple tasks.
  • Ability to build a comprehensive schedule.
  • Ability to coordinate subcontracts and contract documents.
  • Shown understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems with a strong ability to embrace new technology.
