Overview: The Department of Pathology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is seeking a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor to join our team as a Cytopathologist/Surgical Pathologist. As a member of our division, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality pathology services while contributing to the education and research missions of the institution.

Responsibilities:
This position involves day-to-day sign-out of cases in Cytopathology and Surgical Pathology, primarily Head and Neck Pathology. You will work closely with clinical colleagues, participate in tumor boards and conferences, and contribute to the education of residents, medical students, and ancillary staff. Additionally, you will engage in scholarly activity through presentations at national meetings, developing clinical research collaborations, and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific literature.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must possess an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, with board certification in Anatomic Pathology or combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Fellowship training with board certification or eligibility in Cytopathology is also required. Training or experience in Surgical Pathology, particularly in Head and Neck fellowship, is highly desirable. Furthermore, you must have full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia and demonstrate experience working in a diverse environment or commitment to do so.

Preferred Qualifications:
A strong background in Cytopathology and Surgical Pathology, with expertise in Head and Neck Pathology, would be beneficial. Additionally, clinical experience and interest in research and scholarly activity, as demonstrated by publication in professional journals and presentations at national meetings, are highly valued.
