Role Overview

As a Touch Sensing Architect at Apple, you will play a pivotal role in conceiving, modeling, and integrating cutting-edge sensor solutions for the iPhone. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering high-precision, low-latency MultiTouch experiences that set the standard in the smartphone industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop key performance metrics and author requirement specifications for next-generation touch sensing technologies.
  • Design and develop end-to-end models capturing sensor, circuit, DSP, and algorithm interactions to predict key performance metrics and inform technical decisions.
  • Develop tools, scripts, and infrastructure to enable scalable modeling and simulation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, integrate, and bring up sensor solutions, including sensor design, ASIC application design, and system-level integration.
  • Analyze and reconcile build data with model predictions to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform failure analysis, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions to ensure high-quality touch sensing experiences.
  • Communicate technical updates and progress to broader teams and leadership.
Requirements
  • BS degree in a relevant field (e.g., EE, Math, Physics) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Deep understanding of physics, analog circuits, and linear algebra.
  • Experience in modeling, building, and testing complex, multi-physics systems.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, COMSOL, or similar packages.
  • Hands-on experience in system-level design, architecture, characterization, and validation.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and independently converge technical issues.
