JOB SUMMARY:
To effectively oversee and manage all functions and activities of the Food Service Department to achieve optimal sales and profitability objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Possess knowledge of merchandising strategies and promotional events within a food service environment.
Oversee and implement all operational goals established for the Food Service department, which encompasses all hot food items, salad bar, and in-house prepared sandwiches and salads.
Accountable for managing the budget and departmental expenses, ensuring sanitation, safety, regulatory compliance, menu innovation, food preparation, and service.
Responsible for verifying all Food Service department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate vendor billing. Maintain acceptable inventory levels to guarantee the highest quality and freshness of all products.

Achieve profit targets by controlling food, supply, and labor costs while maximizing sales potential through effective marketing and promotions, all while managing shrinkage.

Document, monitor, and maintain inventory levels of ingredients used for food preparation, including conducting physical inventories regularly.
Assist in the unloading and transportation of prepared food items to sales areas or storage.
Uphold sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas. Evaluate sanitation practices and establish sanitary controls as mandated by local and state health departments and company policies.
Manage damaged and spoiled products in accordance with company protocols.

Ensure a positive impression with customers through a clean, appealing, and welcoming food preparation and serving area by adhering to sanitation, safety, and security policies.

Plan, develop, maintain, and execute food preparation tools essential for managing inventory and production while minimizing shrinkage.

Comply with state and health department regulations regarding food safety and sanitation, while maintaining a housekeeping program to ensure a clean and organized department.

Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal weights and measures, as well as food labeling laws.
Effectively train and develop food preparation staff on operational programs, equipment functionality, and fundamental cooking techniques. Supervise and schedule personnel to provide the highest quality of customer service.
Adhere to and enforce all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


Conduct regular departmental meetings for all staff to communicate plans, programs, and policies, aiming to educate, resolve issues, and gather suggestions for improvement.

Oversee the prepared food department and assist in slicing and assembling prepared food trays as needed.
Participate in the hiring, training, evaluation, and disciplinary processes for food service employees.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum of 2 years' prior experience in food service management, retail department management, guest relations, and/or customer service.

Ability to read and write to accurately tag merchandise, place orders, and maintain acceptable inventory levels.

Basic analytical and mathematical skills necessary for interpreting invoices, gross profits, and labor percentages.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to swiftly and effectively resolve issues that arise with both staff and customers.

Excellent oral and written communication skills for interacting with guests, employees, supervisors, and vendors.
Obtain and maintain any local, state, and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certifications. ServSafe certification or equivalent is required.
While performing the duties of this job, candidates will be required to stand for extended periods (2 hours or more).

Physical demands may include lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling, with occasional lifting of objects up to and possibly exceeding 50 pounds. Basic computer skills are essential, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft programs.

Must possess a vibrant and dynamic personality with a high level of enthusiasm and a genuine passion for working with people and food.
