Position Available: Research Specialist in Child Welfare at Commonwealth of Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Research Specialist to lead its initiatives in collaboration with local agencies, focusing on child welfare and related programs. This role is essential in maintaining a robust partnership aimed at enhancing services for children and families. The Research Specialist will be responsible for monitoring legislative changes at various levels and assessing their implications for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact between the Commonwealth and local child services regarding Child Protective Services (CPS) and Foster Care and Adoption programs.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders to facilitate decisions that align with program objectives while fulfilling organizational goals.
  • Communicate with local, state, and federal representatives as necessary.
  • Provide training for team members and develop a comprehensive Policy and Procedures manual to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with leadership and academic partners to ensure transparency in operations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in human services, public policy, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with federal regulations pertaining to child welfare.
  • Demonstrated research proficiency in relevant areas.
  • Experience in program oversight, management, and financial planning.
  • Capability to produce scholarly publications and secure funding opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skill in evaluating and adjusting organizational processes in response to policy updates.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and applications.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities for fostering relationships and pursuing funding.
