We are seeking a skilled Drafter II to join our team at Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW). As a Drafter II, you will play a critical role in preparing detailed drawings for the construction of or revision to the electric, gas and/or water distribution systems, street light system and/or underground transmission system.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detail drawings for the construction of or revision to the electric, gas and/or water distribution systems, street light system and/or underground transmission system.
- Prepare one-line diagrams for planning and feeder studies.
- Make field trips as needed.
To be successful in this role, you must have knowledge and skills in electrical–mechanical drafting and layout tasks. You must also be able to successfully complete Placement (Group 001 "Drafters")/Performance Exercises and NIMS Training within one year of entering the job. A valid driver's license from the state of residence is also required.
Working EnvironmentThis role will work in an office environment for the majority of the time. However, you will be required to perform occasional field inspections, which may involve pulling/heavy lifting of manhole covers, transformer vault gratings and electrical equipment, bending, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and other hazards associated with field inspections. You will also be required to sit for long periods of time and may experience eye fatigue while working in the office.
