Job Title: Skilled Laborer - Civil Construction

Job Summary:

The Skilled Laborer - Civil Construction is responsible for performing construction maintenance tasks of a skilled nature, including finishing concrete, laying bricks and blocks, and operating vehicles and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantling forms after use.
  • Dig ditches and level earth to grade specifications.
  • Score and break asphalt or concrete with a jackhammer.
  • Spread gravel, asphalt, and other materials over surfaces.
  • Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.
  • Install erosion and sediment controls.
  • Participate in demolitions.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, braces, barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  • Erect concrete forms and scaffolding.
  • Apply waterproofing and sealant to protect concrete work.
  • Move materials to the worksite and ensure all tools, machinery, and other equipment are safely set up.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience working in heavy highway construction.
  • Complete understanding of OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, and lift heavy materials.
  • Ability to measure accurately and read specifications.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of materials and equipment used in general street maintenance and construction work.
  • Knowledge of methods and practices of pouring and finishing concrete.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Flagger License desired.
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly recommended.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
Working Conditions:

This job may require extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends. The ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist is required. The ability to stand for extended periods and perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions is also necessary.
