Job Summary:The Skilled Laborer - Civil Construction is responsible for performing construction maintenance tasks of a skilled nature, including finishing concrete, laying bricks and blocks, and operating vehicles and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantling forms after use.
- Dig ditches and level earth to grade specifications.
- Score and break asphalt or concrete with a jackhammer.
- Spread gravel, asphalt, and other materials over surfaces.
- Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.
- Install erosion and sediment controls.
- Participate in demolitions.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, braces, barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Erect concrete forms and scaffolding.
- Apply waterproofing and sealant to protect concrete work.
- Move materials to the worksite and ensure all tools, machinery, and other equipment are safely set up.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience working in heavy highway construction.
- Complete understanding of OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Ability to kneel, bend, and lift heavy materials.
- Ability to measure accurately and read specifications.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of materials and equipment used in general street maintenance and construction work.
- Knowledge of methods and practices of pouring and finishing concrete.
- OSHA 30 preferred.
- Flagger License desired.
- COVID-19 vaccination highly recommended.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
This job may require working extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends. The job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist. The job also requires standing for extended periods and performing tasks in less than favorable job conditions.
