Structural Truss Engineer

A reputable building materials firm is seeking a talented Structural Truss Engineer to become a vital part of their expanding workforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops floor and roof truss layout plans, design schematics, and cost estimates by leveraging the ability to interpret blueprints and client specifications for various projects.
  • Establishes design criteria based on architectural plans and structural requirements.
  • Evaluates the work of fellow designers as part of a verification process to minimize design inaccuracies before submission for production.
  • Generates manufacturing documentation that is streamlined and organized for optimal efficiency based on the machinery utilized in production.
  • Engages with clients and sales personnel regarding technical elements of designs that necessitate clarification from clients, architects, or engineers. Maintains records of communications with these parties using spreadsheets and archived emails.
  • Adheres to Building Codes to guarantee the safety of designs while complying with industry regulations.
  • Employs advanced mathematical skills for calculating dimensions, weights, angles, and possesses technical proficiency in CAD software and related applications.
  • Interacts with clients throughout the design phase.
  • Consults with senior component technicians and management when deeper analysis is necessary.
  • Organizes and manages personal work efficiency to achieve daily, weekly, project, or team-related productivity objectives.
  • Recognizes and follows all safety protocols to prevent harm to oneself or colleagues; participates in regular safety meetings as required; suggests improvements to enhance safety practices.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 2-3+ years of experience in Truss Design and Drafting within the Construction and Building sector.
  • Expertise in MiTek software is essential.
  • Minimum educational requirement of a High School Diploma or GED.
