Position: Proteomics Research Scientist
The Integrative Omics (IO) team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is on the lookout for a talented individual to fill the role of Proteomics Research Scientist. This position emphasizes the enhancement of proteomics methodologies, particularly in the area of post-translational modifications (PTMs) such as phosphorylation, acetylation, and redox modifications, aimed at both environmental and biomedical research applications. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in quantitative proteomics, PTMs, data science, and bioinformatics. Experience with MS-based proteomics sample preparation, LC-MS analysis, and TMT labeling for sample multiplexing is highly desirable. Knowledge in environmental microbiology and microbial communities will be considered an advantage for this position. The ideal candidate should demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously, effectively manage priorities, and contribute solutions within a collaborative team setting.
In the role of Proteomics Research Scientist, the individual will spearhead advancements in PTMs and play a vital role in environmental and biomedical research initiatives. Collaboration with a diverse team, data analysis, and the identification of future research directions will be essential components of this position. The candidate will also engage in research publication, mentor junior team members, and participate in grant proposal development. A Ph.D. in relevant disciplines is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform experiments on cells, tissues, or model organisms to explore the causes of diseases and potential solutions.
- Employ analytical and computational methods to detect toxins and evaluate risks to human health and the environment.
- Examine samples for chemical components to diagnose conditions and suggest therapeutic strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with relevant experience, or a Ph.D.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, or related fields.
- Extensive experience in mass spectrometry-based protein and PTM quantification and data analysis.
- Proven track record of disseminating research findings through publications and presentations.
