Overview
The Payroll Analyst role is essential for ensuring the precise execution of payroll processes while adhering to all regulatory payroll obligations. This position is critical in establishing effective systems and controls to guarantee that all employees receive their due compensation promptly, and that all financial obligations to employees, governmental bodies, and third-party organizations are fulfilled without delay to mitigate potential penalties. The role involves collaboration with both internal and external auditors to maintain payroll compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the accurate processing of payroll and establish systems to gather and manage data for employee compensation within the Employee Central Payroll framework. This includes enhancing and automating the entire payroll workflow.
- Serve as the primary resource for plants and employees regarding payroll inquiries, collaborating with payroll processors to address any issues.
- Ensure timely payments to employees, tax authorities, and third-party entities such as unions, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded to avoid penalties.
- Assist the payroll processing team in troubleshooting issues as they arise. Provide training and support for the processing team on new procedures.
- Guarantee that all payroll-related hardware and software are functioning correctly, safeguarded against risks, and compliant with legal and corporate standards.
- Act as the SOX Specialist for payroll systems and processes, working closely with auditors to ensure compliance.
- Manage payroll ACH file processing and oversee the printing and distribution of paper checks.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in EC Cloud payroll, leading training initiatives for the payroll processing team.
- Collaborate with the payroll manager on continuous improvement projects, mergers and acquisitions integrations, and other payroll-related initiatives.
- Handle quarterly 941 filings, annual 940, W2, 1099, and other mandatory payroll submissions.
- Act as the main point of contact for external vendor programs such as pay cards, daily pay, employment verifications, online pay stubs, and other employee benefit deductions.
Technical and Functional Expertise
- Proficient in Employee Central Cloud Payroll
- Knowledge of SQL databases
- Strong PC skills, particularly in Excel
- In-depth understanding of payroll legislative requirements
- Commitment to Continuous Improvement
- Certified Payroll Professional designation
- Extensive knowledge of US payroll tax and banking
- Experience with ADP standalone payroll services
Educational Background
- Minimum: High School Diploma with at least 10 years of relevant experience
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business with a minimum of 6 years of payroll experience
- Prior experience in Payroll Tax, SOX compliance, and Garnishments
- Certified Payroll Professional credential
