Position: Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Location: Baltimore, MD. Contract Duration: 12 months+ Compensation: $25-$35/hour

A Regulatory Compliance Specialist in the financial sector is responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all applicable laws and internal guidelines. This position involves overseeing transactions to ensure adherence to legal standards, performing audits and risk evaluations, and generating reports on compliance matters. The specialist offers insights on regulatory updates, formulates and executes compliance strategies, and collaborates with various departments to resolve compliance-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) assessments to confirm client identities and evaluate the risk of financial misconduct, ensuring compliance with pertinent regulations.
  • Investigate and analyze questionable transactions and activities, file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as necessary, and liaise with regulatory bodies to address and rectify potential concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine AML and KYC policies and procedures to align with changing regulatory landscapes and industry standards, while providing training to personnel on compliance measures.
  • Execute regular audits and risk assessments to assess the effectiveness of compliance initiatives and internal controls, recommending enhancements as needed.


Required Skills:

  • Proficient in analyzing intricate financial transactions and recognizing suspicious patterns or irregularities indicative of money laundering or other financial offenses.
  • Thorough understanding of AML/KYC regulations and compliance obligations, including familiarity with relevant laws, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for precise documentation and reporting, coupled with strong communication skills to convey findings and collaborate with internal teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and MS Project.
