LPN - Shelby Surgical Services Part-Time

Job Summary
As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Atrium Health Shelby, you will provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered care, acting as a partner and adviser to patients and families to optimize their health care.
- Apply critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially in complex or potentially life-threatening situations.
- Assist medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedures, including interviewing and screening patients, documenting findings, and taking vital signs.
- Participate in recording and reporting responsibilities, documenting patient care and health care status accurately and consistently.
- Clean and stock examination rooms and supply areas, and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Perform and maintain competency for point-of-care testing, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Comply with Atrium Health's mission, vision, and values, as well as the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and Service Line standards.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited LPN training program.
- Previous experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinical or other healthcare setting preferred.
- Licensed Practical Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care, Adult ED, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU, and NICU, and other areas per unit guidelines.
Work Environment
Well-lighted, well-ventilated, and adequate space. Contact with patients and family members under a wide variety of circumstances. Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Regular exposure to blood-borne diseases, infectious and contagious diseases. Possible exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals. Subject to many interruptions. Subject to irregular hours.
