Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Jet Press Operator to join our team. As a Jet Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating the press and controlling the printing process to produce high-quality custom-printed products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all jobs have marked samples as early as feasible during the run
  • Verify that load tickets are correct and all job-related information is completed and processed properly
  • Monitor your work to ensure consistent quality throughout each job and notify your supervisor of issues or concerns
  • Ensure all job-related information is completed and processed properly, including counts on jackets, issuing stock, and waste calculation
  • Follow departmental quality control procedures
  • Use quality control tools, including densitometers, conductivity, and pH meters
  • Use a log book to track issues for other shifts and maintenance, listing solutions used to rectify issues
  • Consistently keep paper stock usage under amounts allotted in the estimate
  • Calculate waste correctly to prevent under and overruns
  • Maintain press speeds that are within or above the estimating standards without sacrificing quality
  • Input accurate information into the data capture system and verify shift summary report at the end of shift
  • Assist in teaching fellow team members new skills to improve the team and the company
  • Improve systems and processes to increase productivity and reduce spoilage
  • Utilize downtime to improve the run ability of equipment
  • Communicate job and equipment-related information to workers on other shifts verbally and using the log book
  • Ensure maintenance is performed per manufacturer's procedures
  • Keep the area and equipment clean and organized at all times
  • Keep maintenance logs up to date
  • Maintain the press at optimum performance at all times
  • Inform supervisors of needed repairs and maintenance
  • Perform minor repairs
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment as required each shift, daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually, annually, etc.
  • Allow time at the end of shift for clean-up and organization of work area
  • Able to operate the 'GFI AccuBlend' ink mixing machine
  • Know how to convert ink parts into pounds
  • Ensure the ink room is kept clean and organized
  • Notify management when ink is low or having quality issues
  • Know and follow all safety procedures
  • Operate all equipment in a safe manner
  • Be proactive in regard to Safety and encourage proper safety habits in others
  • Ensure the press and area are OSHA compliant
  • Report work-related injuries to supervisor
  • Aware of lockout/tag out procedures and able to follow them
  • Store hand jacks safely in skids when not in use
  • Prevent safety hazards, including skids on edge, trip hazards, spills, etc.
  • Aware of lockout/tag out procedures and able to follow them
  • Control tardiness and the number of unscheduled days off
  • Work overtime when needed to satisfy customer demands
  • Able to work OT on your normal shift hours, flex hours, weekends, coming in early or staying late as the necessity calls for
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience as a press helper and 2 to 3 years experience as a press operator
  • Knowledgeable and capable of using micrometers, blanket packing gauges, and densitometers
