We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Omaha. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing federal, state, county, and city laws, conducting investigations, and providing public safety services to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce laws and regulations through de-escalation techniques and identification, apprehension, and arrest of suspects
- Conduct investigations and gather evidence to solve crimes
- Participate in traffic investigations and patrol activities
- Use appropriate force when necessary, including firearms and less-than-lethal weapons
- Serve as a first responder to emergency incidents
- Communicate effectively with law enforcement, emergency personnel, citizens, witnesses, offenders, and victims
- Safeguard and account for evidence and non-department property
- Perform administrative tasks, including writing reports and completing documentation
- Participate in training activities and maintain regular job attendance
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Citizen of the United States prior to completion of certification training
- Twenty-one years of age prior to completion of the training program
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license
- Good character, as determined by background investigation
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at the eleventh grade level
- Certified by a licensed physician as able to meet the physical requirements of a police officer
