Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Mechanical Technician to join our team at North Wind Services. As a key member of our supplemental labor team, you will contribute to national security by supporting vital federal research and development installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle and process large and small optics, including milling, sawing, grinding, and polishing.
  • Clean, inspect, and package optical components for delivery.
  • Utilize various measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, and interferometers, to complete metrology.
  • Work with customers to find the best course of action to achieve efficiency in solving issues.
  • Design and develop moderately complex tooling for various jobs, including radii and angles.
  • Collaborate with the team to share knowledge of various R&D projects.
  • Perform all assignments in accordance with ESH&Q, Security, and business practice requirements and policies.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Optical or Mechanical technologies, or equivalent level of education and related experience.
  • Intermediate experience with production technologies, including evaluating and testing processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Experience working within deadlines to perform multiple tasks and communicate effectively with managers and customers.
  • Experience following detailed procedures and accurately recording process parameters.
  • Intermediate experience with database, data manipulation skills, personal computers, and associated software.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with database, data manipulation skills, personal computers, and associated software.
  • Advanced experience with production technologies, including evaluating and testing processes.
  • Effective written, verbal, feedback, and presentation communication skills among peers and other colleagues.
