Job Summary

At KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asphalt Paving Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of road construction and asphalt paving trades workers and their helpers. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the activities of road construction and asphalt paving trades workers and their helpers
Perform supervisory and management functions related to job cost accounting
Act as liaison with job estimator to provide calculations on hours involved, tons of materials needed, along with truck, plant, and human resources required
Recognize and communicate to Superintendent or Project Manager any priority projects or problems, such as employee or job costing issues and complaints from the public
Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR Manager
Coordinate, direct, and lead workers engaged in paving and/or construction activities
Supervise crews to obtain top-quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork, and pride
Review and verify employee time sheets and submit to Payroll Officer on specified days
Suggest and initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires, and training requirements
Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend motivational plans
Regularly communicate with maintenance staff about repair and maintenance needs on all major pieces of equipment on assigned jobs
Relate to the public and to customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their complaints

Requirements

Basic knowledge of administration and management
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in highway and road construction and asphalt paving
Knowledge of equal opportunity and affirmative action principles and procedures for employment actions such as hiring, training, and labor relations
Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking, and reasoning skills
Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees
Strong mathematical abilities and the ability to remember words, numbers, and other information
Ability to read, understand, and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys, and job specifications
Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet)
Advanced mechanical skills a plus
Ability to use a transit to establish grades and lay out projects
CDL with endorsements and a clean driving record
A minimum of two to four years of related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for these occupations
High school degree or equivalent

Working Conditions

Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts, and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration.
