Job Overview

Stearns Companies is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Light Duty Tow Operator. This role requires individuals who can deliver exceptional customer service while performing a variety of roadside assistance tasks. The successful applicant will utilize assigned towing vehicles and equipment to conduct emergency road services, vehicle recovery, and towing operations in a safe and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service consistently.
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Respond promptly to dispatched calls, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Provide roadside assistance, including but not limited to:
  1. Changing flat tires and inflating low tires.
  2. Jump-starting vehicles with operational batteries.
  3. Delivering fuel to vehicles running low.
  4. Executing minor vehicle repairs.
  5. Performing lockout services for customers.
  6. Conducting damage-free towing and accident recovery.
Conduct thorough inspections of trucks and equipment, completing pre-shift checks daily.Maintain appropriate fluid levels in vehicles as per manufacturer specifications.Keep vehicles clean and organized, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.Respond to communications promptly while on call.Ensure fuel tanks are filled consistently.Maintain a professional appearance, wearing a clean uniform and safety gear.Participate in all required safety and training sessions.Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Valid DOT Physical certification.
  • Ability to pass a drug test in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Must be insurable under the company’s insurance policy.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Mechanical aptitude for performing minor vehicle repairs.

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and varying environmental conditions is expected in this role.
