Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a highly skilled Support Services Specialist to join our Otolaryngology department. This role will contribute to providing and supporting balance disorder services, including balance testing, clinical care coordination, and clinical education of health professionals. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, technical expertise in balance disorders, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialized clinical/technical service for balance disorder testing, care coordination, and health professions education.
Interpret test results, support patients in obtaining care, and navigate the delivery system to address care/service issues.
Maintain and update equipment and supplies to ensure optimal performance.
Provide health education to patients, residents, and students, communicating detailed medical information to various audiences.
Collaborate with peers and co-workers to enhance the delivery of healthcare, providing feedback to management on means to achieve goals and resolve service issues.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
1-3 years of experience at an academic medical institute, interacting with patients, and scheduling and conducting assessments.
Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team is desirable.
