Position Overview

We are seeking a Traffic Operations Engineer to become a vital member of the DRMP team. This role focuses on signal design and offers an opportunity for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct various engineering calculations and analyses to meet the essential design criteria for assigned projects.
  • Assist in the development of traffic forecasts, transportation assessments, and planning evaluations utilizing various traffic analysis software.
  • Support the lead engineer or project manager in estimating and monitoring project expenditures.
  • Coordinate the compilation of data analysis and reports, aiding in the production of engineering designs and specifications.
  • Ensure quality control and assurance in alignment with company and departmental standards, as well as client and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform fieldwork, including site inspections and property assessments.
  • Maintain comprehensive field notes and photographic documentation as necessary.
  • Facilitate communication with clients regarding specific project tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • E.I. certification in the relevant state.
  • 0-4 years of progressively responsible experience in public and private sector projects, preferably within the A/E/C industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Microstation software.
  • Knowledge in developing signal design and signing/pavement marking plans; familiarity with NCDOT design standards is advantageous.
  • Understanding of project execution procedures aimed at effective project management.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and subcontractors.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage deliverables, analytical results, and field documentation.
  • Proficient writing skills for report generation, proposal development, and engineering/construction cost estimations.
